Honestly I am glad they improved the system.
It's interesting hearing these tidbits about the audio portal's history. That's a side of this site that I've been largely unfamiliar with (aside from handful of creations I randomly decided to submit...).

Eh, it was kind of a toxic reward system. Old school AP had so many issues with it, the vast majority of artists would never see gold. Just the zero bombing that went on was so discouraging for new users. I prefer the community approach users have learned to take :]

Yea there were issues with zero bombing, and of course the AP wasn't perfect back then, but these fancy records / trophies were a really cool way to show off good songs.
